Syllabus:

  • Magnetic circuits and transformer including 3-phase transformers
  • Fundamentals of D.C. machines, armature reaction, voltage-current characteristics, speed-torque characterisitcs, speed control
  • Fundamentals of induction machines, derivation of equivalent circuits, performance characteristics, speed control, starting methods
  • Fundamentals of synchronous machines, equivalent circuit, V-curves, power factor control, capability curves
  • Prerequisite: EE101 - Electrical Sciences
