Dr. Mohd. Kaleem Khan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Patna. He has served as Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and also served IIT Patna as its first Associate Dean Administration. He joined IIT Patna as an Assistant Professor in December 2008. Prior to joining IIT Patna, he taught at Thapar University at Patiala and Aligarh Muslim University at Aligarh. He received his doctoral (PhD) and Masters (M.Tech) degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. He has a B.Tech from Aligarh Muslim University. He has taught various courses such as Fluid Mechanics-I, Fluid Mechanics-II, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Advanced Heat Transfer, Advanced Fluid Dynamics, Refrigeration and Air conditioning among others in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Patna. He has developed a number of mechanical engineering laboratories at the IIT Patna as well. In 2012, he authored a book chapter Refrigeration, Air conditioning and Cold Storage which was published in the Handbook of Food Process Design by Wiley-Blackwell, UK. Recently he has authored a textbook on Fluid Mechanics and Machinery, published with Oxford University Press for Undergraduate Students of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Dr. Khan is a member of two international professional bodies namely American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineer (ASHRAE).

Dr. Khan is actively involved in research in the areas of Sustainable Energy with focus on Heat Transfer in Viscoplastic Fluids, Two-phase Flows in Mini and Micro-channels, Nuclear Engineering and Solar-thermal Systems. His eight PhD students have successfully defended their theses and seven others are presently enrolled in PhD under him. He has published numerous review and research articles in top international peer-reviewed journals such as Physics of Fluids, ASME Journals of Heat Transfer, Pressure Vessel Technology and Engineering Materials and Technology, ASHRAE Transactions and HVAC&R Research, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, International Journal of Refrigeration, International Journal of Thermal Sciences, Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, Applied Thermal Engineering, Nuclear Engineering and Design, Annals of Nuclear Energy, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, International Journal of Energy Research among others.

Dr. Khan has participated and presented his research at several professional meeting and international conferences as well. He presented papers in various international conferences such as 2010 ASHRAE Winter Conference at Orlando in January 2010 and 2014 ASHRAE Winter Conference at New York City in January 2014 and HEFAT-2016 in Costa del Sol, Spain in July 2016. He also chaired session entitled Heat Transfer Enhancement-2 in HEFAT 2016 conference at Costa Del Sol, Spain 11-13 July 2016. He has been a reviewer for a number of research journal and conference articles, books and theses.

Dr. Khan has been working on three projects funded by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) as PI and one project funded by DST as co-PI. Out of three DAE funded projects, two have been successfully completed and third is ongoing. He is also serving as PI in the ongoing DST-FIST project. His efforts and findings were widely appreciated by the peers.
