Welcome to the Department of Chemistry at IIT Patna. The Department of Chemistry in IIT Patna has been established since the setting up of the Institute in 2008. The department started the PhD program in Chemistry from July 2009. A vibrant multidisciplinary research program in the Department of Chemistry at IIT Patna is supported by energetic faculty members and state-of-the-art research facilities. The faculty members of the department are committed to quality teaching and research. With a strong foundation in the conventional areas and quest for emerging areas of Chemistry, faculty and students are engaged in a range of dynamic research programs that include Supramolecular Chemistry, Target and Diversity oriented Organic synthesis, Nanochemistry, Catalysis, high resolution and Bio-Spectroscopy, Polymer and Biochemistry.

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry at IIT Patna. The Department of Chemistry at IIT Patna began in 2008 when the institute was founded. We have an undergraduate course in B. Tech. (Chemical Science & Technology) and MSc (Chemistry). The department had started PhD program since 2008. The department is dedicated to delivering the institute’s engineering, science, and technology students with the best quality education. facilitates frontier research in a number of areas in chemistry and technology. Advanced research facilities are also available to students and researchers in other departments and centers in the institute, with an interdependent and collaborative setup. The department has globally recognized faculty members who are experts in a range of research fields. The faculties are also involved in interdisciplinary projects that connect chemistry and technology. Our department boasts a rich academic record in teaching and research. The faculty members possess outstanding academic qualifications and are well known. They have been awarded prestigious national awards. Some of the faculty members are members of the editorial boards of national and international journals, review technical papers for journals on a regular basis, and conduct webinars, symposia and conferences. Mission
These programs have been envisioned with a view to prepare human resource to be competent in both Academia and Industry. The scope of these programs will extend by not limited to provide students with basic concepts of chemical science and in parallel offer adequate practical training in chemical science related engineering. This practice should enable the students to apply their theoretical concepts into a technological output whereby they can prove to be useful in industry for technology development.
