MOU with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)

 

On 5th September 2019, IIT Patna has signed an MoU with Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Institute Ltd for offering a joint course on Data Analytics and Business Intelligence. This course will target to provide fundamental knowledge as well as implementation skills on applications in the said domains. This course will be the first of its kind from IIT Patna. The potential target would be working professionals who have limited scope to join a reputed academic institute for upgrading their skills. Keeping in view the office hours of the working professionals the course will run during the weekend for nine months. The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumanta Gupta, Associate Dean (Resource), IIT Patna and Mr. Ambarish Datta, Managing Director, BSE Inst Ltd., in the presence of Dr. Jawar Singh (Professor-in-Charge, Continuing Education Program, IIT Patna), Mr. Pradeep Chowdhary (Business Head, BSE Inst. Ltd), Dr. Jimson Mathew (Head, Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Patna). From IIT Patna, the course will be conducted by Dr. Joydeep Chandra, Dr. Abyayananda Maiti, Dr. Sourav Dandapat, Dr. Arijit Mondal, faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering through the Continuing Education Program.

MOU with DWSC, Bhojpur

 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna and the District Water and Sanitation Committee (DWSC), Bhojpur in a ceremony at IIT Patna on Monday, August 26, 2019 to foster long-term collaboration in the area of solid-liquid waste management (SLWM) and open defecation free plus (ODF+) activities in the Bhojpur District of Bihar. IIT Patna to be the technical partner for the DWSC, Bhojpur in the following specific areas: (i) biodegradable solid waste management, (ii) grey water management, (iii) plastic waste management, and (iv) faecal sludge management. As part of this collaboration, IIT Patna will also provide technical knowhow and training to the officials of the DWSC, Bhojpur as well as selected set of interested people, natural leaders or Swachhagrahi’s for capacity building in form of short-term course, green skill development programme and workshop. Shri Shashank Shubhankar, IAS, Deputy Development Commissioner, Bhojpur and Prof. Sriparna Saha, Associate Dean, R&D, IIT Patna have signed the MoU on behalf of the DWSC, Bhojpur and IIT Patna, respectively in the august presence of Shri Roshan Kushwaha, IAS, Hon'ble DM, Bhojpur and Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Hon'ble Director, IIT Patna. The ceremony was also graced by Shri Vishwa Ranjan, Registrar, IIT Patna and Dr. Ramakrishna Bag, Head, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Patna. As part of this collaboration, Shri Pramod Kumar, Director, District Rural Development Authority, Bhojpur and Shri Nikhil, DWSC, Bhojpur; and Dr. Subrata Hait, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Patna will coordinate the activities on behalf of the DWSC, Bhojpur and IIT Patna, respectively.

MOU with KYOTO University, Japan

 

IIT Patna has signed up a general memorandum for Academic Cooperation with “The Graduate School of Informatics, KYOTO University”, for the purpose of research collaboration leading to patent rights, copyrights, or other intellectual property rights.

This MOU was signed by Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Director, IIT Patna and Dr. Yoshimasa Nakamura, Dean, Graduate School of Informatics Kyoto University, Yoshida Honmachi, Sakyo- ku, Kyoto 606-8501, Japan on 25-11-2018.

In April 1998, Kyoto University created the Graduate School of Informatics through the reorganization and integration of information-focused research areas at five schools (Engineering, Science, Agriculture, Letters, and Integrated Human Studies). This new school was designed “to incorporate research on the processes of information generation, transmission, conversion, reception, storage and research on computer hardware, software and communications technology which facilitate such processes.

The purpose of this MOU is to promote student exchange between the two institutions based upon the General memorandum for Academic Cooperation and exchange between the parties. Both parties will promote in particular the following activities:

  • Exchange of scientific materials, publications and information;
  • Exchange of faculty members and researchers;
  • Exchange of students;
  • Joint research and meetings for research.

This General Memorandum for Academic Cooperation shall be effective for a period of Five (5) years from the date of signing.

MOU with Innopolis University, Russia

 

IIT Patna has signed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Innopolis University, with aims to increase collaboration, cooperation and interaction for the further promotion and understanding of Computer Science and Information Technology.This MoU was signed by Director, IIT Patna and Mr. Kirill Semenikhin, Director, Innopolis University, Innopolis City 420500, Russia on 06-02-2018.

INNOPOLIS University, an autonomous noncommercial organization of higher education located at 1, Universitetskaya str., Innopolis city 420500, Russia. Innopolis University develops a global network of academic partners; best international practices; create & support a high quality system of education & research and comply with international standards.

The purpose of this collaboration is to be increased collaboration, cooperation and interaction for the further promotion and understanding of computer science and information technology. The parties intend to explore cooperation prospects in the following areas:

  • Exchange of faculty members, researchers, students for lectures, visits, joint, experiments, implementation of other collaborative projects.
  • Cooperative research projects to be carried out in selected fields agreed upon mutually;
  • Exchange of publication and other academic research information of common interest, as availability and resources permit;
  • Development of joint degree programs, special programs and/or internship;
  • Organizing of events of common interest (including conferences, workshop etc.).

This MOU shall be effective for a period of five (5) years from the date of signing.

MOU with TUSUR University, Russia

 

IIT Patna has signed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (Russia) (abbreviated TUSUR University), with aims to promote academic cooperation and academic mobility of students, staff and researchers. This MOU was signed by Director, IIT Patna and Professor Alexander Shelupanov, Rector, TUSUR University, Tomsk, Russia on 02.12.2017.

TUSUR is one of the leading engineering universities in Russia, located in the intellectual heart of Russia and Siberia–the city of Tomsk. This is a young university, ambitiously striving for leadership and global presence in education and research.

The purpose of this Agreement is to support the future engagement of researchers associated with both institutions in order to promote cutting edge research in the areas of:

  1. Radioengineering & radioelectronics, information & telecommunication technology, electrical engineering & power electronics, control, automation & instrumentation technology, physical electronics & microwave naonelectronics;
  2. Exchange of undergraduate and graduate students (internship or academic program);
  3. Exchange of faculty and staff members;
  4. Joint research and consultancy activities;
  5. participation in seminars and academic meetings;
  6. exchange of academic materials;
  7. Other information and special short-term academic programs and projects.

This MOU shall be effective for a period of five (5) years from the date of signing.

LOI with University of Denver

 

IIT Patna has signed up a Letter of Intent (LOI) with University of Denver, with the aim of furthering research collaboration and student & staff exchange in the field of Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering and Mechanical & Material Engineering.This LOI was signed by Dr. Probir Saha, Associate Dean Resource, IIT Patna and Professor JB Holston, Dean, Ritchie School, University of Denver on 20-02-2018.

The purpose of this collaboration is to support the future engagement of researchers associated with both institutions in order to promote cutting edge research in the fields of Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering and Mechanical & Material Engineering. Ritchie School recognizes the benefits to be derived from increased collaboration, cooperation and interaction for further promotion and understanding of these areas of engineering.This LOI shall be effective for a period of three (3) years from the date of signing.

LOI with Dublin City University (DCU)

 

IIT Patna has signed up a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Dublin City University, with the aim of furthering research collaboration and student & staff exchange.This MoU was signed by Director, IIT Patna and Professor Andy Way, School of Computing, DCU on 07-12-2018.

DCU has a particularly strong research record, is sometimes described as a research-led university. DCU will be recognized internationally as a research intensive, globally-engaged University of Enterprise that is distinguished both by the quality and impact of its graduates and its focus on the translation of knowledge into societal and economic benefit.

The purpose of this collaboration is to support the future engagement of researchers associated with both institutions in order to promote cutting edge research in the areas of Machine Translation (MT), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Analytics and Computational Science. School of Computing, DCU recognizes the benefits to be derived from increased collaboration, cooperation and interaction for the further promotion and understanding of MT, NLP, Data Analytics and Computational Science. This LOI shall be effective for a period of three (3) years from the date of signing.

This LOI sets out the intensions of School of Computing, DCU and IIT Patna for increased collaboration, cooperation and interaction and it does not create any legally binding commitments.

MoU with National Informatics Center

 

"National Informatics Center (NIC), Ministry of IT, India has set up the Digital Government Research Center (DGRC) at Patna Software Technology Park. DGRC is the first of its kind anywhere in the country.

DGRC was formally launched IIT Patna by the Hon'ble Minister of IT Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad on 2nd March 2017. On this occasion, IIT Patna entered into an MoU with the National Informatics Center, which will create a framework for joint publication, patenting, internships, advisory and consultancy, under the umbrella of DGRC.

IIT Patna Director Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya observed that one of the most attractive outcomes of this collaboration is analytics on huge amount of data at NIC which will be mined to discover useful patterns and rules and trends. One of the projects starting under this collaboration is a Deity funded project on disaster prediction - Dr. Ashok Singh Sairam and Dr. Joydeep Chandra of IIT Patna will be the Project Investigators.

In his address, Hon'ble Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad outlined how India was getting transformed by the Digital India program launched in 2015 by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. He urged IIT Patna and NIC to make the DGRC a crowning success.
