Faculty Development Programme (FDP)

Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is aimed to update the teachers with the latest development in engineering, technology, science and humanities and social sciences within the developing Indian economy and the available International opportunities and link these to the current learner requirements and employer expectations. The Programme equips the teachers with the latest trends of engineering, technology, science, humanities and social sciences; tools and techniques for effective teaching and training through lectures and hands-on practices through specially designed lecture materials, and software with appropriate pedagogic framework. On successful completion of this course, the participants would be able to undertake and complete the following tasks at reasonable levels of proficiency

  • Identify and write down appropriate course, module and unit objectives of her / his courses
  • Develop / select appropriate test items for all objectives for both Summative and Formative evaluation
  • Plan an outcome-based curriculum document to meet National Board of Accreditation(NBA) requirements
  • Teach more effectively as evidenced by criteria discussed in this course

Short Term Courses (STC)

These courses are to be offered to the teachers, PhD scholars and students of various technical institutions. This is also open to the interested persons from Industry, R & D institutions and students to participate in the courses on payment of a specified fee. The courses are conducted to bring the latest in the field of engineering, science, humanities and social science research to the participants with an objective to give the potential researchers and students an opportunity to interact with the experts and learn about the subject.

The courses also provide a good platform to start new research collaborations. Within a short span of time the courses have proved to be very useful and there is a high demand of such courses from many Institutes. Certificates will be provided to the participants at the end of the course on the recommendation of the course coordinator(s).

Knowledge Dissemination Programme

Knowledge Dissemination Programme is aimed for faculty and students of engineering colleges, working professionals from R & D organizations and industry. The objectiveis to offer short modular courses preferably of 10-16hours’ duration on a niche topic. The courses are targeted towards students and faculty members of engineering institutions, students, entrepreneurs, working professionals from R & D organizations and industry.

The modular courses would be conducted live through video conferencing. For a wider outreach and to enable the faculty and students of engineering institutions & working professionals to attend the programme after their office/class hours, the live/video modular courses will be conducted during evening/weekends.

Salient features:

  • The modular courses are on a niche topic having a wide outreach.
  • The module is composed of 5-8 lectures of 2-hours duration which will be delivered in the evening during week days / weekends.
  • Participants of the programme are students and faculty members of engineering institutions, other colleges, and working professionals from research and developments organization and industry.
  • Lectures to be delivered online.
  • On successful completion of the course a certificate of participation will be issued to all candidates by the QIP office on recommendation from the QIP Coordinator

International Summer & Winter Term and Internship (ISWTI)

This is Programme provides an opportunity to international students; professionals from the industries, research organizations, faculty from all over the world:

  • to register for the subjects offered during the summer and winter terms; or.
  • to undertake a training on a specialized subject under a faculty and his/her research group
  • online.
The participants can register for these summer/winter courses or for internships on payment basis. The participants registered for these courses, optionally had the opportunity to obtain additional academic credits based on the evaluation and grading process. His/her home university/Institute was mainly responsible for transferring ISWTI academic credits. IIT Patna only provided information on the grading system, subject syllabus, and the academic policy. On successful completion of the internship, faculty member can issue a certificate.

National Summer & Winter Term and Internship (NSWTI)

This is Programme provides an opportunity to national students; professionals from the industries, research organizations, faculty from India:

  • to register for the subjects offered during the summer and winter terms; or
  • to undertake a training on a specialized subject under a faculty and his/her research group
  • hybrid mode
The participants can register for these summer/winter courses or for internships on payment basis. The students registered for these courses, optionally had the opportunity to obtain additional academic credits based on the evaluation and grading process. His/her home university/Institute was mainly responsible for transferring NSWTI academic credits. IIT Patna only provided information on the grading system, subject syllabus, and the academic policy. On successful completion of the internship, faculty member can issue a certificate.
