Giant enhancement of Raman scattering and fluorescence using the combination of photonic and nanoplasmonic elements

Last year, we experimentally demonstrated the giant enhancement of Raman scattering signal of a few molecules using the combination of photonic and nanoplasmonic elements (photonic nanojet (PNJ) mediated surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique) [1]. Recently, for the first time, we have performed the numerical study on PNJ mediated SERS technique and found a few key experimental parameters for optimizing the SERS signal. In addition, PNJ mediated surface enhanced fluorescence (SEF) technique has been proposed for enhancing the fluorescence signal of single molecules and this technique is numerically proved to be much better than the conventional SEF technique [2].
