Asif Ekbal is an Associate Professor in the department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, India. Prior to joining to IIT Patna he has worked as a post-doctoral research fellow in University of Trento, Italy and Heidelberg University, Germany.
His research interests are in the broad areas of Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. Currently, his research focuses on Information Extraction, Machine Translation, Sentiment Analysis, Emotion Analysis, Dialogues and Text mining. In these areas he has authored or coauthored around 150 papers in the journals like ACM Transactions, PLOSONE, Knowledge Engineering etc.; and conferences like ACL, COLING, EACL, EMNLP etc. Google scholar citation which is the benchmark of Computer Science shows his citation count of 2445 with h5-index of 27 and i10-index of 77.
His research is supported by the Industries such as Elsevier, Accenture, Samsung, LG Soft; and the govt. agencies such as MeiTY, DST, MHRD, CDOT etc.
He is the recipient of the Best Innovative Project Award from the “Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE)”, JSPS Invitation Fellowship from the Govt. of Japan and Visesvaraya Young Faculty Research Fellowship Award from Govt of India.
