First International conference on Signal, Image and Video Processing 2012

Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Patna has successfully organized First International Conference on signal, image and video processing (ICSIVP-2012) during Jan 13-15, 2012. The institute Director and General Chair of the conference Prof Anil K. Bhowmick inaugurated the International conference and appreciated Dr. Maheshkumar Kolekar, Organizing chair of ICSIVP-2012 and his team for organizing International conference successfully. Prof. Ioannis A. Kakadiaris (University of Houston, USA) delivered keynote address on "Research opportunities at University of Houston”. Air Marshal B N Gokhale, PVSM AVSM VM (Scientific Consultant, Govt. of India), Prof. Somnath Sengupta (Dean, CEP, IIT Kharagpur), Prof. Sumantra Dutta Roy (IIT Delhi) delivered plenary speeches related to conference theme. Prof Vikram Gadre (IIT Bombay, Mumbai) conducted preconference tutorial on wavelet transform.
A total 80 research papers in the areas Biometrics, Medical Image Processing, Information Coding, Pattern Recognition, and Video Surveillance were published during the conference. Scientists, engineers, faculty-members, research scholars and students from premiere institutes such as IIT Kharagpur, ISI Kolkata, CDAC Mumbai, DRDO research labs, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT Ropar, IIIT Jabalpur, IT BHU Varanasi, MNNIT Allahabad, NIT Trichy, VNIT Nagpur, NIT Patna, DAIICT Gandhinagar NIT Srinagar, NIT Warangal, NIT Jamshedpur, BITS Pilani, Apollo Health City Hyderabad presented research papers during the conference. Special issue of American Scientific Publisher’s International Journal on Medical Imaging and Health Informatics (JMIHI) will be published in June 2012 based on revised versions of the papers published in ICSIVP-2012 conference.
The conference was technically co-sponsored by IEEE Calcutta chapter and financially sponsored by DST New Delhi, DIT New Delhi, DRDO, DST Bihar, Edgate Technologies Bangalore, NI Bangalore and Agilent New Delhi. Director Prof Anil K. Bhowmick, right from inception of the conference provided complete support and guidance Dr Kolekar and his team for smooth functioning of the conference. By seeing the success of this conference, we are in process of making this event as an annual trend and it probably will be organized periodically
