At least three reference letters from persons well acquainted with candidate's work are essential for consideration of candidature. Applicants may send his/her advance copy of the applications through email to: facrecrt@iitp.ac.in and hard copy by post to the above address. Also, request the referees to send the reference letters to the Professor In-Charge, Faculty Affairs by post/fax/email.

Candidates have to ensure that reference letters by post/fax/email and hard copy of the applications by post reach the Institute at least 8 working days before the date of interview for consideration of their application.
Electronic copies of the application and/ or reports from the referees will be considered only on receipt of hard copies of the application.
Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor (on contract): For appointment as Assistant Professor on contractual basis, one should have a fresh Ph.D with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout. The contract will be initially for three years. After three years, it will be regularized as Assistant Professor depending upon the performance.

Assistant Professor: For appointment as Assistant Professor, one should have a Ph.D with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and at least three years' teaching / research / industrial experience, excluding however, the experience gained while pursuing Ph.D.

Associate Professor: For appointment as Associate Professor, one should have a Ph.D with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and a minimum of six years teaching / research / industrial experience of which at least three years should be at the level of Assistant Professors, Senior Scientific Officer/Senior Design Engineer.

Professor: For appointment as Professor, one should have a Ph.D with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record and a minimum of ten years experience of which at least four years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/institutions of comparable standards as may be so decided by the Institute.

Reservation:

Reservations will be as per Government of India rules.

Pay Scales:

Assistant Professor (on contract): To be appointed in PB-3 (Rs.15,600-39,100) with AGP of Rs. 6,000/- p.m. with seven non-compounded advance increments. After 1 year, the AGP will be Rs. 7,000/-

Assistant Professor: To be appointed in PB-3 (Rs.15,600-39,100) with AGP of Rs. 8,000/- p.m. For direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Band to be fixed at Rs. 30,000/-

Assistant Professors in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs, on completion of three years of service shall move to Pay Band 4 (Rs.37,400-67,000) with AGP of Rs. 9,000/- and will, however, continue to be designated as Assistant Professor.

Associate Professor: To be appointed in PB-4 (Rs.37,400-67,000) with AGP of Rs. 9,500/- p.m. For direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Band to be fixed at Rs. 42,800/-

Professor: To be appointed in PB-4 (Rs.37,400-67,000) with AGP of Rs. 10,500/- p.m. For direct recruits, minimum pay in the Pay Band to be fixed at Rs. 48,000/-

Professor of an Institute of national importance who is on the verge of retirement or who has recently retired may also apply for a contract appointment.
Minimum requirements of qualification and/or experience may be relaxed in respect of exceptionally outstanding candidates.

Applicants who are employed in Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Organizations or Institutions should send their applications THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL. Else they will be required to produce a NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from their employer at the time of interview.
